How To Help Your Body Heal From The Coronavirus

As the cases of coronavirus infection increase around the world, people want to take control back over their situation.

So is there something that can be done?

The answer is YES!

The symptoms of the coronavirus, which include fever, coughing, sneezing, and shortness of breath, are the precise mechanisms that help this virus spread so quickly. These symptoms generate droplets of coronavirus that others can inhale, helping it pass on to other people so easily. Even simple breathing and talking, and of course, sweating releases these droplets that spread the virus.

The coronavirus found in these droplets once inhaled by someone then enters the back of the nasal passages to the mucous membranes in the throat, where the virus attaches to a receptor on our cell membranes.

With the help of the spiked proteins sticking out of the coronavirus surface, the coronavirus fuses through the membrane to enter the cells. Inside the cell, the coronavirus’s genetic material takes over the metabolism of the cells and begins to multiply. When its multiplied sufficiently, it can go to the neighboring cells. This is how the virus spreads.

After entering the throat, the virus travels into the bronchial tubes in the lungs. In the lungs, the virus causes inflammation that damages parts of the lungs. This damage makes breathing very difficult. Fluids start to fill up the lungs, leading to pneumonia, a lung inflammation.

In extreme cases, when the lungs are full of fluids, people need to be put on a ventilator to help them breathe. The worst-case scenario is when the lungs fill up with so much fluid that breathing becomes impossible, and the person dies.

The virus can also affect the gut showing symptoms of indigestion or diarrhea, or it can land on other organs of the body. When it does, and a full-blown immune response is taking place, the infected organ may stop functioning. This is why people with background diseases are more likely to die from the coronavirus since some of their other organs are already in a weakened state.

There is still a lot to learn about the coronavirus before we understand how to cure it, even naturally. Nevertheless, several natural measures can be taken to prevent death from the disease.

In the prevention stage, we all know what to do. There is plenty of news coverage on this. You want to avoid close contact with someone infected by the coronavirus. Still, since we do not know who is infected, it is best to wear masks to prevent infection from droplets of the virus. Also, using gloves to avoid infection from contaminated surfaces whenever leaving the house is vital, which should be for urgent needs only. Wash often hands and avoid any close contact with anyone who is not living with you. When going to the supermarket or pharmacy, ensure that these places are well ventilated, preventing the concentration of the virus . Also, drinking hot herbal teas helps prevents the virus from attaching onto cells in your throat.

Once you have contracted the coronavirus, you want to support your body by eating a healthy, mostly plant-based diet consisting of nutritionally dense foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes.

Although the viral infection lowers appetite and food intake, nutrients must be taken to prevent nutritional deficiencies that lead to a downward spiral in health and prevent recovery.

Eating a different type of legume soup such as bean or lentil soup every day with a slice of wholegrain bread is very important since the immune system needs sufficient protein to fight off the infection. Legumes are also very rich in zinc, an antioxidant mineral known to strengthen the immune system and protects the spreading of the viral infection. Also, a salad is essential or stir-fried vegetables with many different vegetables to help the patient consume sufficient nutrients. If the patient can eat a salad or vegetables, that is wonderful, but if not, food supplements should be taken. I will get into that in a minute.

But before that, it is crucial to mention foods to avoid when sick with the virus, and these include foods with added sugars, refined carbohydrates, and alcohol, as these all lower immune function. Processed foods must be avoided as they impair white blood cell function.

Cigarette smoking is also something that should definitely be avoided as this increases the risk of coronavirus infection.

The best foods you want to consume now are those rich in phytonutrients such as:

Foods rich in quercetin (leafy green vegetables, broccoli, onions, red peppers, apples, grapes, and green tea)

Foods rich in Rutin (buckwheat, asparagus, apple with peel, figs, and elderflower tea).

Foods rich in Luteolin (celery, green peppers, and chamomile tea).

Foods rich in myricetin (tomatoes, oranges, nuts, and berries)

Foods rich in resveratrol (peanuts, pistachios, red and black grapes, blueberries, cranberries, and cocoa )

And foods rich in apigenin (grapefruit, parsley, onions, oranges, chamomile)

Also, foods rich in zinc, as I mentioned before, including legumes of all types but also tahini, pumpkin seeds, nuts, and whole grains.

Vitamin C is also beneficial and can be found in foods such as red peppers, broccoli, and citrus fruits.

If the patient cannot consume food, supplementation with phytonutrients and antioxidant mixes, as well as taking in a B complex, and sufficient water will be helpful.

I also recommend getting the patient out in the sunlight between 11 am and 1 pm as these are the times when UVB rays are at their highest. Enriching the body with vitamin D helps to stabilize the immune response, which is very important, especially if the virus has reached other organs apart from the lungs.

I also want to recommend that the patient is held in a place with low air pollution as this increases the risk of death from the virus. Also, keep their rooms well ventilated with plenty of fresh air to reduce the concentration of the virus inside the room. A portable humidifier can also be helpful because sufficient air humidity has been shown to help fight the coronavirus.

Please be cautious and take the right measures to keep yourself healthy at this time and help prevent the spread of this virus.
